Bienvenidos a Ecuador

I've made it to Ecuador (even though some of you think I've spent my last 2 years here, ha). Yay for entering a new country. Now, I´m up to 14 countries... out of what? 200. Ah, I´m such an amateur.
It's amazing how green this country is.

As I move  on to Ecuador, I am sad to leave Peru. It has been my favorite country so far. The only downfall to Peru is all the gringos! Which it is hard to avoid a country that has so much diversity (from glacier capped mountains, amazing arcaelogical sites (Machu Picchu), the amazon jungle, islands, deep canyons, and beautiful beaches.) Just as I was beginning to think, nobody on earth is as nice as Salvadoreans... Peruvians have certainly worked their way up top too. In the past few weeks, I've had many Peruvians go out of their way to make sure I´m safe and comfortable. Perhaps it is because I´m traveling alone and they don´t quite understand how I could do such a thing. They themselves don´t have the independence and courage to travel around their own country. I´ve had ladies escort me back to my hostel, open up their homes to me, and walk out of their way to take me to the place where I only asked them for directions.

My last few days in Peru I spent on the coast the border in a town called Mancora.  It was quite relaxing (and a nice change from the cold mountains), despite the crappy hostel I stayed in. Mancora is a nice beach town, but with way too many gringos. My last night I went out for a ceviche dinner (at a place called Restaurante Cevicheria Caesar- highly recommended!) with a 70 year Australian lady traveling (pretty inspiring). Ceviche is fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices spiced with chili peppers.. Deliciousness..
